Anura wins a rich haul of medals at All India Ranking

Anura wins Bronze at All India Badminton Ranking
Anura Prabhu Desai, brand ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and our Ponda based shuttler and now represents Airport Authority of India (AAI), won Bronze in the Girls Doubles U19 event at the All India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2016 at Tirupathi, A.P. She partnered Riya Mookerjee from West Bengal and the pair were seeded third in this tournament. In the semi finals Anura and Riya lost against the top seeded pair, Shikha Gautam and Mahima Aggarwal, 21 - 14, 21 - 18.
 
Anura wins double crown at All India Inter Institutional Badminton Championship
Anura Prabhu Desai , Ponda based shuttler who is brand ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and now represents Airport Authority of India (AAI) won the Women's singles and doubles events at the All India Inter Institutional Badminton Team and Individual Championships at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, at Mumbai. In singles finals, she defeated Mahima Aggarwal (AAI) 21 - 18, 9 - 21, 21 - 15 while in doubles, she and her partner J. K. Malvika (AAI), defeated P.S. Sinymol and Varada Dixit (LIC) 21 - 15, 21 - 17. Anura's team of Airport Authority of India also won the Team Championship defeating LIC 5-0 in the finals thus qualifying for the senior national team championship to be held at Bihar, Patna.  Anura was selected to represent India at the Yonex Sunrise India Junior International Badminton Championships, held at Pune(1st to 4th September 2016), where she was seeded 4th in both Girls singles and doubles.
 
Anura wins Bronze in Girls Doubles Under 19
Anura Prabhu Desai , Goa's Ponda based shuttler who is brand ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and now represents Airport Authority of India (AAI) won Bronze in Girls Doubles Under 19 along with her partner Riya Mookerjee of West Bengal, at the All India Junior Ranking Badminton tournament at New Delhi. In the semi finals, they fought hard but succumbed against second seeded pair of Ashwini Bhat K. and Mithula U. K. 22 - 20, 21 - 18. Anura, who has attained a career high ranking of No 6 in Women's singles and is ranked No. 4 in Junior U19 singles however faced a setback in her Junior Under 19 singles as she was upset by 6th ranked Prashi Joshi. She lost 15 - 21, 21 - 19, 10 - 21 in a close three setter match.
 
Anura secures Bronze in Women's Doubles at All India Women's Ranking
Goa's Anura Prabhu Desai , who is brand ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and now represents Airport Authority of India (AAI) secured Bronze medal finish in Senior Women's doubles along with her partner Mahima Aggarwal at the Dorjee Khandu All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2016 at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. In the semi finals they went down fighting against the second seeded pair of Ningshi Block Hazarika and Shruti Mundada in an extremely close three sets match(21 - 19, 9 - 21, 21 - 19 ). In Women Singles, Anura reached the quarter finals before losing to the eventual winner Shreyanshi Pardeshi, 21 - 11, 20 - 22, 21 - 17, in another close finish.
 
Anura secures third place finish in All India Junior Badminton Ranking at Chandigarh
Anura Prabhu Desai , Goa's Ponda based shuttler who is brand ambassador of Geno Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and now represents Airport Authority of India (AAI) secured third place finish in Junior (Under 19) Girls singles and doubles categories at the Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Badminton Ranking Tournament being held in Chandigarh. In singles quarters, Anura defeated Purva Barve 21 - 23, 11 - 21 before going down 14 - 21, 13 - 21 to top seed Shikha Gautam in the semi finals. In doubles, Anura along with her partner Riya Mookerjee defeated the pair of Sahishi Bandhi and Varshini V.S. 21 - 18, 21 - 19 in the quarters. In semis, the pair lost to top seeds Mahima Aggarwal and Shikha Gautam, 13 - 2 (Conceded).
