Goa’s Tanisha wins Gold, Silver at All India Badminton at Chennai (May 21 -26, 2019)
Goa’s Tanisha Crasto along with her partner Aditi Bhatt from Uttarakhand emerged Junior Under 19 Women’s Doubles champions at the All India Junior Badminton Ranking championship which concluded on Sunday at Chennai. Tanisha and Aditi who are the current National champions in Junior doubles category defeated Simran Singhi / Ritika Thaker 21-14, 21-16 to lift the title. Tanisha who had also reached the Junior Mixed doubles finals with Ishaan Bhatnagar from Chhattisgarh had to settle for silver as they went down 18-21, 12-21 to the 5th seeded pairing of Ritika Thaker / Dingku Sing Konthoujam. Earlier in the semi finals, Tanisha Crasto / Aditi Bhatt edged out Shruti Mishra / Samriddhi Singh 21-12, 19-21, 21-12 in Junior Women’s doubles while in Mixed Doubles, Tanisha Crasto / Ishaan Bhatnagar knocked out top seeds Sahiti Bandi / Navaneeth Bokka 25-23, 17-21, 21-13. This was a Selection tournament for the Asian Junior Badminton championships which will be held later this year and with her excellent performances, Tanisha is likely to make it into the India squad for the prestigious championship.
