Goa to host the 45th Indian Masters (Veteran) National Badminton Championships 2022-23 in March
Goa, India - The Goa Badminton Association is proud to host the 45th Indian Masters (Veteran) National Badminton Championships 2022-23 at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim, Salcete- Goa, from 19th to 26th March 2023. The eight-day event is a prestigious selection tournament to choose players who will represent India at the BWF World Senior Badminton Championships 2023 in Jeonju, South Korea.
The National championships will bring together some of the best veteran badminton players from India, including several former state and national champions from across the country. Over 2000 veteran badminton players from various age groups are expected to participate in this prestigious event, which will provide good exposure to Goa players and colorful games for the spectators.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) will depute technical officials from various parts of India to conduct the matches. Rajeev Mehta from Delhi has been deputed as the Chief Referee for the championship, while Maharashtra's Vivek Saraf and Kerala's Melvin Minoy are the Assistant Referees.
Sandhya Melasheemi, Ashutosh Pednekar, Dr. Satish Kudchadkar, Sandip Kanji, Kamlesh Kanji, Amit Kakkar, Vishal Vernekar, Pradeep Dhond, Tanaji Sawant, and Ayoob C.K are some of the top State-ranked Goa players who will be seen in action at the event.
The National championships will be organised in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) and the North Goa District Badminton Association, headed by Manoj Patil (President), Parag Chauhan (Secretary), Anirban Sen (Treasurer), Nilesh Nayak (Advisor), and others. Digambar Kamat (Chief Patron) and Narahar Thakur (GBA President) will be the other key members of the committee, while GBA Secretary Sandeep Heble will be the Organising Secretary of the event.
The championship is budgeted at approximately Rs 40 lakhs, with Yonex Sunrise being the title/principal sponsor.
